We have grown… in the 12 years or so we've been around, our software has changed a lot – from basic single user key-in and analysis tools to a multi-modal CATI CAWI CAPI platform with online analysis… the software has changed but not our website. We thought – and still do – that interpersonal exchange is the best way to swap information… and we like the fact that when you have a support question or a development idea, you can speak to Yannick or to Mamadou and not just support at askia dot com.

However, Web 2.0 came along and boy have things changed. We can now have a space where people exchange, participate, communicate, belong, submit, advise, create and share.

Instead of telling you what there is in the next version, we now have an area where we discuss it together. Documentation will be available online so it can be improved collaboratively. Flash know-how and widgets will also be accessible. Each reported bug – we call them issues, we don’t have bugs do we? – will be allocated a number so you can follow its progression from solving to testing until final release. There will be forums to post questions and get responses from support, developers, sales (God forbid!) or from other users. And some interactive shared documents – wikis – to describe anything from advanced JavaScript, through to large scale web-farming and advanced Z-score options.

We have decided to build our new website on an open platform called Redmine. We dig and you get the gems (fire the marketing director - Ed.). With 1350 users worldwide, we should have some real contributions. The idea is not to replace the current support arrangement but to complement it. And involve you in the decision process making you part of our (Red-mine) revolution.
